Planning
Overview of Spatium planning concepts and the hierarchy of planning items.
Planning in Spatium
Spatium organizes planning as a connected structure, from long-term direction to day-to-day execution.
The goal is simple: every operational step should connect to a meaningful objective.
Planning tools and roles
Each planning tool has a different role in the hierarchy:
- Strategy: defines long-term direction
- Strategic Plan: translates strategy into execution lines
- Program: coordinates related initiatives under one objective
- Project: executes focused deliverables
- Checklist: controls recurring critical steps
- Action Plan: organizes tactical execution steps
- Target: tracks concrete tasks and milestones
How they connect
The hierarchy works like this:
- A Strategy contains Strategic Plans.
- A Strategic Plan contains Programs.
- A Program contains Projects, Targets, and Checklists.
- A Project contains Targets and Checklists.
- Action Plans and Checklists can contain Targets.
- Targets can include sub-Targets.
How to use this in practice
Start at the highest level that matches your decision.
If you are deciding direction, start with Strategy. If you are executing concrete work, use Programs, Projects, Action Plans, Checklists, and Targets.
Keep links between levels updated so execution always reflects strategic intent.
